Hiroshima by John Hershey

The following post is taken directly from my hand-printed Reader's Journal. I will be sharing these reflections each week on the Rivera Runs Through It blog. The date at the end of each post is the date of the original writing, which is typically the date I completed the book. The reflections are short, but represent my initial reactions to a book, a brief summary of the book or the questions it raised for me at the time. I hope you enjoy this segment in my blog and feel free to comment on what you read here.

Hiroshima by John Hershey

The cover of this book has a quote "Everyone able to read should read it," printed on it. I agree. This was th true accounts of six survivors of the A-bomb dropped on August 6, 1945. I did not know much about it bfore reading this book, so many questions have been answered, however, in that same light, many more have risen. This book has awakened a curiosity in me to know more about the history of my country and the world. This is an excellent book to have on my students' reading list!

If you had to recommend one book about the history of your country or the world, what would it be?
